I have been in the world of movement since the age of 4, when I started dance classes. Dance of all forms shaped who I am today. After receiving a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan in 1991 I went on to New York City to pursue a career in dance and theatre. In 1993 I went back to school, Hunter College, to get a MS in Dance Movement Therapy. After several years working with children with special needs, I decided it was time to move on. I trained in 2006 to teach Barre, then was certified in TRX and then in 2011 went on to begin my Pilates training with IM=X Pilates. I began with the Basic IM=X Mat and Xerciser certifications, then added the Advanced Xerciser, Cycle Tower and then Tower certifications. Now in 2017 I decided it was time to take IM=X Pilates to another level, and I am the new owner.
Tara O'Rourke, a trainer with many trades. A childhood gymnast to a gymnastics coach in 1999. Tara received an Associates degree in Massage Therapy and Occupational Studies in 2002 from New York College of Health Professions. She continued her college education at Dowling College where she received a Bachelor of Science and a degree in Professional and Liberal studies in 2004. Since 2004 she has been teaching and supervising students at the New York College of Health Professions. In 2013 Tara discovered IM=X Pilates, and a year later went through the training to become a trainer at IM=X. She is certified in Basic Mat and Xerciser as well as on her way to further IM=X advanced certifications.
Jess brings her young vibrance to our IM=X Studio. She is deeply skilled in many genres of dance, including her most enthusiastic love of Pole Dancing. IM=X has helped her immensely in her dancing career and she passes that love forward to all of her clients.
I purchased my first gym membership when I was a teenager, and have been hooked on fitness ever since. In 2005 I decided to make fitness my career. I teach and am certified in many formats, including Mat Pilates, Cycling, Zumba, Strength training and Cardio Kickboxing. I am also a black belt in Karate. I joined the IM=X team in 2014. I love teaching and training on the IM=X Xerciser.
